Sheikh Mohammed honours graduates from One Million Arab Coders programme

Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday honoured the graduates from the “One Million Arab Coders” programme.

“Three years ago, we launched an initiative to train one million Arab coders from around 80 countries. Today, we celebrate their achievements. One million coders from 80 countries joined the programme which is under the supervision of the Dubai Future Foundation. 100,000 successful graduation projects and 1,500 scholarships granted to top achievers,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.

Sheikh Mohammed congratulated graduates from the One Million Arab Coders programme. “We congratulate graduates from the One Million Arab Coders programme…The coming is even greater. We invite you to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai to launch new projects and innovative ideas through the Expo platform, the world’s biggest event in 2021. We also allocated big prizes, but the biggest prize is what you introduce in the field of digital economy to serve your nations,” Sheikh Mohammed added on his twitter account.

One Million Arab Coders
The One Million Arab Coders initiative was launched in 2017 as part of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) foundation to equip young Arabs with the tools to build their future, starting with fluency in coding and programming.

The initiative aimed at empowering Arab youth with coding, which is the language of the future, as well as at equipped them with the skills needed to contribute to the development of the digital economy.

When launching the programme in 2017, Shaikh Mohammad said: “Coding is the language of the modern era. Our goal is to teach it to one million young Arabs, to prepare them now for the requirements to excel in the future.”
